Message from the President:
CTA members, welcome to the 2007-2008 school year. We will continue to face challenge after challenge as we have in the past. The federal government with No Child Left Behind, the state with unfriendly legislation and the district imposing policies and practices, will present major challenges that we must overcome. Our practices, will present major challenge that we must overcome. Our ability to be successful rests only on our working together and being focus driven. Being in a Right to Work state, we must realize our areas of strengths. Our strength lies in our solidarity, public perception, political influence and working relationship with the district.
Exhibiting solidarity with the local, state, and federal governing bodies is critical to our ability to control our destiny. Presently, we speak with only 75% of our potential voice. We have about 3,000 potential members who could help us be extremely strong when negotiating with the district. This is a limiting factor in our ability to move the district in the direction we know to be the right one. We are asking every member to ask potential members to join us in the fight for better working conditions for educators in this district. In solidarity there is strength.
Our voting public must believe that we are the best educators in the state. We must stay focused on delivering high quality instruction in our classrooms. It is critical that we continue to convince our community that there is a need to attract and retain high quality teachers in this district. They are the voters and they have the collective power to demand that the local, state and federal governing bodies do what is needed for quality education in our county.
We must stand tall during the 2008 elections. We must all support and vote for education friendly candidates. Our presence must be visible in the political campaigns, rallies and in the voting booths across the county. It is clear that who is in political office will determine what is happening in our classrooms. The time to exercise our political voice is NOW. We need to participate in all forms of voting, both the primary and general elections. Your individual voice must be heard.
CTA will continue to work to develop a positive and effective working relationship with the district. Sometimes this is difficult, but it is necessary for all concerned. We will always take necessary legal action to protect our contract and members, but we will attempt to resolve matters amicably if possible. CTA will work to prevent stressful and challenging situations from reaching our members. However, when strong action is necessary, CTA will respond quickly and appropriately.
Come and work with us and make us a stronger, better, and more impactful. Recruit a member, join a committee communicate with us by giving us your E-mail address, run for a CTA office and make you union a better union
Sincerely,
Theo Harris
President

Message from Executive Director:
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome Back! Hopefully, you have had some rest and recreation and are back to inspire, teach and create.
We must create our own future. We must help drive the education agenda. We must work to provide dignity for our profession. We must work to be the voice of all the teachers. We must work to create great public schools. The CTA is a vehicle for this in Palm Beach. The CTA is here to build a collective voice to promote change and take responsibility for our profession. CTA needs you to help build local capacity. CTA needs you to build and expand our family. CTA is also your voice in the work place. CTA needs you to play a more prominent part in your union. Become active. Become involved. Become a leader. "Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a society work, a civilization work" - Vince Lombardi
Together, we can create our future.
Together we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
Helene Samango
Executive Director
